These new clips from Project Hail Mary highlight the unexpected encounter between Ryan Gosling’s Ryland Grace and Rocky, a brilliant alien scientist facing the same cosmic threat. What begins as a cautious first contact soon grows into an unlikely friendship that could save both their worlds.
Starring Ryan Gosling, Project Hail Mary follows Ryland Grace, a science teacher who wakes up alone on a spaceship, light years away from Earth and with no memory of his past. As fragments of his identity return, he realizes he may be humanity’s last hope against a cosmic threat slowly killing the sun. Blending high-concept science fiction, emotional stakes and an unexpected bond beyond Earth, the film promises a spectacular and deeply human journey into the unknown.
The film’s visual effects are supervised at the production level by Paul Lambert and Mag Sarnowska, with Barrie Hemsley serving as Production VFX Producer. The VFX work is shared across multiple studios, including Framestore (VFX Supervisors: Stuart Penn, Robert Winter), ILM (VFX Supervisor: Tristan Myles), Sony Pictures Imageworks (VFX Supervisor: Chris Waegner), BUF (VFX Supervisor: Stephane Vogel), Wylie Co. VFX (VFX Supervisor: Elliot Brennan), each contributing to the creation of the film’s interstellar environments, spacecraft, and cosmic phenomena.
Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, Project Hail Mary is set to be released on March 20, 2026 in the United States.
