HBO has released the first teaser for Season 3 of House of the Dragon, offering a glimpse at the next chapter in the Targaryen civil war. Created by Ryan J. Condal and George R.R. Martin, the series is based on Martin’s Fire & Blood and is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The new season is scheduled to premiere on June 21, 2026 on HBO.
The teaser highlights escalating large-scale battles and increasingly complex dragon sequences, underscoring the show’s reliance on top-tier visual effects craftsmanship. Dadi Einarsson serves as Production VFX Supervisor, with Tom Horton as Production VFX Producer. The VFX for Season 3 are handled by Pixomondo, Weta FX, Rodeo FX, RVX, Zoic Studios, Red Visual Effects, Digital Domain and Incessant Rain Studios.
