For Superman, Framestore pushes the boundaries of visual effects by introducing 4D Gaussian Splatting to a feature film for the first time. The studio’s breakthrough technology powers a new form of volumetric performance capture, delivering unprecedented photorealism.
At the core of this innovation is the creation of holographic messages from Superman’s parents. By moving beyond traditional digital doubles, Framestore achieved what can be described as “living photography,” preserving authentic human emotion within fully volumetric captures.
In collaboration with Infinite Realities, the team ensured performances could be re-framed and re-shot from any angle in post-production. The result is a seamless fusion of cutting-edge technology and cinematic storytelling.
