From icy crystal palaces to earth-shaking battles, Framestore pushed the visual effects of Superman to new extremes. At the heart of it all is Krypto, a fully photoreal superdog brought to life with emotional nuance, physical weight, and cutting-edge fur simulation—heroic, powerful, and unmistakably real!
For Superman, Framestore delivered a wide range of visual effects that help define the film’s newly imagined DC universe. The studio’s work spans fully CG environments, complex superhuman action, advanced character FX, and cutting-edge rendering techniques—balancing large-scale spectacle with grounded, character-driven storytelling.
Key contributions include the creation of the Fortress of Solitude as a vast, fully CG crystalline environment, alongside the photoreal realization of Krypto the Superdog, designed with careful attention to animation nuance, physical weight, and fur rendering. Additional work covered the Engineer’s evolving nanite-based abilities and innovative holographic visuals, combining technical innovation with visual clarity to support both the film’s epic scale and emotional core.
